“I would like to invite the workshop participants to reflect on performance as construction, regarding its specific nature to produce signs and as a tool to transform them. The two lines of work of this workshop will focus on practical exercises in relation, on the one hand, to the body itself as a sign and, on the other hand, to the positional value of language. In the latter line, language will be considered as a malleable and significant quality both as regards text and speech. Our work will be based on performances currently in progress that are in an embryonic state as they consider basic configurations of language related to the body and text. We will use different references, fragments of texts from artists such as Azucena Vieites or Virginia Wolf.
Parallel to this work, I would like to suggest viewing and reading additional materials that set the areas considered in context. Own works and by different artists, writers, poets…. such as Chantal Akerman and Aram Saroyam, Eve Kosofsky Sedwick or Vito Aconcci”, wrote Itziar Okariz.

Seijiro Murayama proposes a journey that goes beyond the territory of the strictly musical, by considering space and time of the performing arts and seeking to find improvisation by means of the body, objects and sounds, to then return with that experience to stimulate improvisation or introduce something different in music.
The knowledge that we generally have about musical improvisation is usually approached within the context of what we can call idiomatic improvisation, in other words, as language activities. What Murayama proposes is rather different: it involves non-idiomatic improvisation, where each one should be capable of developing their own language. Therefore, this workshop will consider voice, handling objects, movement in space and the relationship with the audience, always from a paramount, but often forgotten perspective: listening. This is the basis of understanding. At the end of the day, the aim is to work on active listening, by focusing on silence and also using silence as a basic musical element.

The work of Itziar Okariz embraces video, photography and installation. Her interests focus on constructing identity and the subversion of the existing representation structures along with the space/body relations, whether public or private. The immediacy of her actions engages a constant dialogue with the places where they are carried out. The repetition of actions in different places and at different times is also an essential aspect of her work, where she creates nuances and differences with a single basic element.

Seijiro Murayama is a percussionist, drummer and composer.. Since 1982, she has been working in the field of improvised music and regularly collaborates with other disciplines including video, photo, design, dance and poetry. Since 2005, she has been working as a musician-composer for “Octobre”, the company of Catherine Diverres, one of the leading choreographers of the French contemporary dance scene. He has been regularly working with the renowned philospher Jean-Luc Nancy for the "Venus and the organist" projects, along with other musicians, including Jean-Luc Guionnet, Eric Cordier, Eric La Casa, Mattin, Soundworm, Toshimaru Nakamura, Toshiya Tsunoda or Robin Hayward. Ha tocado en infinidad de festivales de Europa y Japón.
